I do know that when washing you hair,
after you get through with the shampooing
and you put the conditioner in, let the
conditioner set on your hair for atleast 5 mins.
(meaning leave it in while you finish your bath
or shower) this gives it enough time to get more
conditioning in /to your hair. It really helps the
hair especially if you have dry or damaged hair,
until you are able to do a deep conditioning and
this is very important especially if you color, use
blow dyer, flat iron or curling iron.
**Another little tip is to after shampooing and
conditioning your hair when rinsing it, do the last rinse
in cool water...it helps to seal the cuticles and also it
will help your scalp to not get the itches like sometimes
happen. Try it , it really works.
**One more little tip after washing/cleansing your face
rinse it with cool water, it helps close the pores and give
that smooth look, then add your moisturizer before bed.
Do the same the next morning, rinse in cool water and add
a light moisturize and then your makeup. Try that and see
if it works for you.

Who knew water could /do so much?
This is interesting!! I knew you need your
minimum water to flush the toxins out of
your body, but this was news to me.
Correct Time to Drink Water...Very Important!
***From A Cardiac Specialist!
Drinking water at certain time maximizes it's
effectiveness on the body:
*2 glasses of water after waking up - helps
activate internal organs
*1 glass of water 30 minutes before a meal - helps
digestion
*1 glass of water before taking a bath - helps lower
blood pressure
*1 glass of water before going to bed - avoids stroke
or heart attack
Please pass this to the people you care about
I can also add to this. My Primary Care Physician
told me that water at bedtime will also help prevent
night time leg cramps. Your leg muscles are seeking
hydration when they cramp and wake you up with a
Charlie Horse.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I had no idea water could do or did do some much
other than to help keep us alive just by drinking it
to keep our bodies hydrated. I really have no idea
on how much of this has actually been tested nor
have I seen other studies such as this from any other
doctors, but doesn't mean there isn't merritt here.
Gives one something to not only think about but to
also try, what's to hurt...right? One thing for sure
by doing this you definitely get your 6 to 8 glasses
of water a day!
Care In Nursing Homes
I have already started writing one post about the
"CARE IN NURSING HOMES" and as I said I
will be writing on this from time to time and as
much as I feel I need to and also from the feed back
I get from others out there on this subject!
As I have already written my mother is in a
nursing home and when we first put her in the
one she's in now it was REALLY A LIFE SAVER!
Because I had to transfer her from the very first one
she had to be put in and I am here to tell you IT WAS
SO AWFUL! "I WOULD NOT PUT A DEAD
ANIMAL IN THAT NURSING HOME MUCH LESS
MY WORST ENEMY!" (THIS IS GOD'S TRUTH!!!!)
With that being said, I do need to be HONEST about this
one she's in now. As I said when she first went there this
place was truly a life saver for her! Mother has now been
there going on two years and over the course of this time,
this nursing home has changed hands/companies. I know
nothing about the new people/company and have never
been offered any information on them, about them, from
them, or even met them!
This little and I do mean little/small nursing home has only
about 44/46 bed capacity I think it is. This is or was of the
best reasons my family and I really liked it, because you
could get to know the people and by that I mean not only
the nurses, aids, office personnel, resident/patience's,
Physical therapist but the house keeping staff, kitchen staff,
etc; and the other families (if they were so inclined).
This way you feel like you are doing everything you are able
to do for your family member that has to be in a nursing
facility of any type for any reason, you want to get to know
as many people as you can or are able so you can help with
one another for so many reasons but because it's the right
thing to do.
Well getting back to our little nursing home, as I said it
started off as a LIFE SAVER for mother, but over time it
has gone DOWN SEVERAL STEPS now compared to what
it use to be! They have always had problems with the kitchen
from day one that we brought mother in, do not know why,
can't understand why there has always been the problem of the
food always being late, 98% of the time it's cold! It's either not
cooked right, by that I mean it is not cooked all the way, or over
cooked, to tough, to hard, or just not eatable for most of the
residents there to eat! 98% of the residence complain about
the food 97% of the time but nothing gets done about it!
My dad and I have even complained several times and have
been told the problem was been worked on, but we have not
seen any thing fixed yet! (that's not to say the people
preparing the food aren't nice...they just can't COOK!)
They have a few nurses and med. aids that are there that do
know their job and how to do their job and actually like their
job (are they give a very good impression of it anyway). Then
they have a few that so not need to be nursing a DEAD FISH!
That DO NOT NEED TO BE THERE...THAT ARE THERE
BECAUSE THEY ARE A FRIEND TO SOME ONE THAT
WORKS THERE OR EVEN A FRIEND OF A FRIEND
THING! These people do not need to be there, they are very
disruptive, they think they run the whole show.
It will be done their way or not at all and the PAIN AND
STRESS, THE CHAOS, THE BACK STABBING, THE
LYING, THEY BRING IN WITH THEM IS SO UNREAL,
THEY NEED THEIR LICENSE REVOKED! THE VERY
UN - PROFESSIONALISM THAT WREAKS FROM
THESE PEOPLE IS SO WRONG, THEY ARE MASTER
MANIPULATORS AND INTIMIDATORS AND THEY USE
EVERY WEAPON THEY CAN GET THEIR HANDS
ON OR THEIR MOUTH AND WILL COME IN AND
LITERALLY DESTROY A PLACE IN NO TIME!
So as you can probably tell that is ONE OF THE big things
happening now where mother is at, this one particular so called
nurse has caused a mud-slide since she's been there and it has
caused a run away snow ball effect in several areas and people
are being HURT BY IT/HER!
Yes, there has been complaints on her and she is still there, guess
it's going to take going to the owners and the state of Texas to
get her out!
It's awful how when they get good people in there to
work, they will not keep most of them around very long, for some
reason, they had rather have the lazy, lying, ones that do not care
around instead of the the ones that are good, and the good people
that are there working and just keep hanging on are the ones that
need to be kept and treated a lot better than they are...these God
loving people work their butts off every day here and are not treated
as they should be. These God loving people honestly love these
residence/patience they help everyday, these God loving people
are sincere and caring, they do their jobs and don't just stand around
and see how they can hurt someone else.
I wish I could name names of the all of the GOOD ONES here
at this nursing home, but I can't or I won't at this point because
of this other person still being there and the real problems she
would love to cause for some of the ones I would name.
What is TRULY SO SAD IT WOULDN'T TAKE MUCH AT
ALL TO GET THIS PLACE TO A1 SHAPE, just get rid of the
trash, get someone in the kitchen that can cook right for the
residence there and what they can eat and it be hot and on time,
and keep the good people that they have left there and hire back
the ones they have lost.
Not every nursing home can say that...not every nursing home
can fix the biggest problems they have that quickly...not every
nursing home has these few problems! Not every nursing home
would have so many people going to bat for it at any given time!
There are nurses aids in all of the nursing home facilities that
come and go, they make the rounds to all of them especially in the
areas they live in. The reasons for this varies, but when you get
GOOD nurses aids, you need to do what you can to keep them,
because these type of people are very far and few between...they a
re a very RARE BREED! These loving people honestly love
what they do, they love caring for the elderly and they are
very good at it! We need more of these wonderful people
in this type of work, but they are not out there!
As I said they are few and far between!
****Lupus
I have lupus and have had since 1997. I did try the
steroid medication they use for lupus but I couldn't
take it...well rather I guess I wouldn't take it after I
personally saw the results of it! "But now I also must
say right here that, that doesn't mean other people can't
or shouldn't take it. "I can not be the judge of that...and
PLEASE UNDERSTAND WHAT I AM SAYING HERE,
THIS KIND OF MEDICATION WAS NOT FOR ME!"
It to me seemed as if all I was doing was getting sicker
and starting to swell. That is what this medication does to
your body is swell it and the doctors or most of them do
not explain this when they put you on it.(The doctors do not
really explain very much of anything to you on their own!)
AGAIN I AM NOT SAYING NOT TO TAKE THIS
KIND OF MEDICATION...I AM JUST SAYING IT DID
NOT WORK FOR ME! I am taking medication and I will be
for the rest of my life, but I am also using aromatherapy, essential
oils, vitamins, minerals and natural medications.
**Lupus is also very hard to detect or to diagnose because it can
mimic so many other illness's out there. So please if your not happy
or do not understand, or not pleased with what your doctor or a
doctor is telling you or not telling you...then either go to another
doctor or make the one you are going to LISTEN TO YOU!
My subjection is to write down everything that is or isn't going on
with you, how you feel from your head to your toes! If something
does not feel right with you, why it doesn't, what hurts, how it hurts
and pay attention from the time you get up in the morning until you
go to bed at night and even if you have any type of a problem at
night when/after you go to bed. "It doesn't matter how small or
little you might think it is write it down, note everything because this
is one true way your doctor can see that there is something really
going on with you and how concern you are!" It also shows the
doctor area of concern or where one might tell him more than
another.
As I said before lupus is a very hard illness to find, detect or
diagnose and the doctors will also tell you that. Most doctors
will give you a blood test and if that blood test shows negative
then they will not look/go any further looking for lupus!
But I am here to tell you the blood test is not always correct!
Although to be fair to the medical profession, they have finally
come up with an blood test that is more accurate in detecting
lupus! When I was given the older blood test I was and had
been for most of my life anemic to start with. So I had to go to
another doctor that would LISTEN to me and what I was saying
and the other symptoms I was having.
So pay attention to your self and your body, talk to your doctor
or a doctor or many doctors...get on the internet and do some
research for your self to help in your diagnoses...NOT INSTEAD
OF A DOCTOR! Then if your not satisfied try a natural healing
doctor of some sort, or/and homeopathic doctor.
You need to take control of your health also as you do in other areas
in your life, BUT ABOVE ALL YOU HAVE TO HAVE FAITH!
What are the Symptoms of Lupus
Because lupus can affect so many different organs, a wide
range of symptoms can occur. These symptoms may come
and go, and different symptoms may appear at different times
during the course of the disease.
**The most common symptoms of lupus, which are the same
for females and males, are:
~extreme fatigue (tiredness)
~headaches
~painful or swollen joints
~fever
~anemia (low numbers of red blood cells or hemoglobin, or
low total blood volume)
~swelling (edema) in feet, legs, hands, and/or around eyes
~pain in chest on deep breathing (pleurisy)
~butterfly-shaped rash across cheeks and nose
~sun- or light-sensitivity (photosensitivity)
~hair loss
~abnormal blood clotting
~fingers turning white and/or blue when cold (Raynaud’s phenomenon)
~mouth or nose ulcers
Many of these symptoms occur in other illnesses besides lupus. In fact, lupus is sometimes called "the great imitator" because its symptoms are often like the symptoms of rheumatoid arthritis, blood disorders, fibromyalgia, diabetes, thyroid problems, Lyme disease, and a number of heart, lung, muscle, and bone diseases.
Memory Health Alert
How Does Hypertension Affect Memory?
No matter which way you look at it, hypertension
(high blood pressure) is bad for your brain. Hypertension
is an important risk factor for cognitive impairment and
Alzheimer's disease. And if you are diagnosed with
Alzheimer's, hypertension may hasten cognitive decline.
What's more, hypertension is the most significant risk
factor for strokes, which can lead to dementia by
destroying brain tissue. This form of dementia, called
vascular dementia, is the second most common type
after Alzheimer's. It is most frequently caused by chronic
hypertension, which can result in a series of small strokes.
It is the accumulation of damage caused by multiple
little strokes that commonly causes vascular dementia.
Of course, hypertension can also cause a significant
single stroke that can damage a large area of the brain
and also cause dementia.
How does high blood pressure impact memory?
The most obvious way is via stroke. High blood pressure
damages blood vessels that carry blood to the brain,
and this damage leads to the buildup of plaques,
accumulation of inflammatory cells, cholesterol, and other
tissue products within blood vessels. When one of these
plaques ruptures, it travels through an artery and eventually
gets lodged in a place where the diameter of the plaque is
larger that the diameter of the blood vessels. This causes
a blood clot to form at that spot. If the clot completely cuts
off blood supply to brain cells responsible for memory or
other cognitive functions, the cells die. The death of these
cells then leads to impairments in thinking. About one third
of people who suffer a stroke develop serious cognitive
problems that interfere with their ability to perform daily
activities.
Another way that blood pressure affects cognition is its
effect on the white matter, the portion of the brain that lies
below the surface. White matter is composed of nerve fibers
that conduct messages between brain cells and a surrounding
myelin sheath that acts as insulation and improves its function
as a conduit of electrical and chemical information. Scans
show that people with hypertension often have white matter
abnormalities, probably because the hypertension produces
impaired blood flow that starves nerve fibers of needed
oxygen and nutrients. This causes the myelin sheath to decay
and results in "demyelination," which shows up on magnetic
resonance imaging (MRI) scans as bright white spots known
as white matter hyperintensities (WMHs) or age-related white
matter changes (ARWMCs).
Research shows that the greater the amount of white matter
changes, the higher the risk of dementia. Reduced blood flow
from hypertension can also directly affect cells in such areas
of the brain as the hippocampus, which is involved in memory.
When these cells do not get enough nutrients and oxygen,
they cannot function properly. If this causes the death of cells,
those areas of the brain may shrink. In addition, blood flow
reduction leads to less efficient removal of waste product
from brain tissue.
Last, hypertension may compromise the blood-brain barrier,
a relatively impenetrable shield that surrounds the brain.
This, in turn, allows toxic substances such as beta-amyloid
(a sticky protein associated with Alzheimer's)
to enter and accumulate in the brain.
No matter which way you look at it, hypertension
(high blood pressure) is bad for your brain. Hypertension
is an important risk factor for cognitive impairment and
Alzheimer's disease. And if you are diagnosed with
Alzheimer's, hypertension may hasten cognitive decline.
What's more, hypertension is the most significant risk
factor for strokes, which can lead to dementia by
destroying brain tissue. This form of dementia, called
vascular dementia, is the second most common type
after Alzheimer's. It is most frequently caused by chronic
hypertension, which can result in a series of small strokes.
It is the accumulation of damage caused by multiple
little strokes that commonly causes vascular dementia.
Of course, hypertension can also cause a significant
single stroke that can damage a large area of the brain
and also cause dementia.
How does high blood pressure impact memory?
The most obvious way is via stroke. High blood pressure
damages blood vessels that carry blood to the brain,
and this damage leads to the buildup of plaques,
accumulation of inflammatory cells, cholesterol, and other
tissue products within blood vessels. When one of these
plaques ruptures, it travels through an artery and eventually
gets lodged in a place where the diameter of the plaque is
larger that the diameter of the blood vessels. This causes
a blood clot to form at that spot. If the clot completely cuts
off blood supply to brain cells responsible for memory or
other cognitive functions, the cells die. The death of these
cells then leads to impairments in thinking. About one third
of people who suffer a stroke develop serious cognitive
problems that interfere with their ability to perform daily
activities.
Another way that blood pressure affects cognition is its
effect on the white matter, the portion of the brain that lies
below the surface. White matter is composed of nerve fibers
that conduct messages between brain cells and a surrounding
myelin sheath that acts as insulation and improves its function
as a conduit of electrical and chemical information. Scans
show that people with hypertension often have white matter
abnormalities, probably because the hypertension produces
impaired blood flow that starves nerve fibers of needed
oxygen and nutrients. This causes the myelin sheath to decay
and results in "demyelination," which shows up on magnetic
resonance imaging (MRI) scans as bright white spots known
as white matter hyperintensities (WMHs) or age-related white
matter changes (ARWMCs).
Research shows that the greater the amount of white matter
changes, the higher the risk of dementia. Reduced blood flow
from hypertension can also directly affect cells in such areas
of the brain as the hippocampus, which is involved in memory.
When these cells do not get enough nutrients and oxygen,
they cannot function properly. If this causes the death of cells,
those areas of the brain may shrink. In addition, blood flow
reduction leads to less efficient removal of waste product
from brain tissue.
a relatively impenetrable shield that surrounds the brain.
to enter and accumulate in the brain.
